The former was about linking the source of an image in case we ever use one on our blog. While the latter is about Print, Broadcast, and New Media that comprise the media that we use or see today. We were tasked to differentiate the given images shown to us in those 3 categories mentioned beforehand. Below is the table and my answers to the questions: PRINT BROADCAST NEW MEDIA Newspaper Magazines Mimeograph Journal TV Radio Film Youtube Social Media Smartphone It was particularly easy to categorize due to the names of the categories which we could infer from. After the activity, our teacher discussed the definitions of each category and of the concept of Media Convergence in which mu...

source image:https://quotefancy.com/quote/759757/Francis-Bacon-Knowledge-is-power 6th meeting || Thursday (2nd week) In this meeting, we were tasked to explain our thought on some statements and quotes which are:  "Knowledge is power" Knowledge for me serves as the key to success in all areas and nurtures our growth as human beings. Since we human beings are intelligent it is only natural that we strive to utilize our intellect which is to have knowledge. "How does information become knowledge?" When information is filtered and collected upon different situations is the process in which we obtain knowledge from information. Ethical use of information For me, this is the use of proper and responsible use of information and knowledge. To prevent misuse, plagiarism, and harm to other people. The importance of giving credit  It is giving respect to the creator and their work. We do not wish to have something stolen from us so we should ...

We further discussed what these medias were and their changes through the years. Through this discussion, we began to understand how amazing the changes of media were and yet still retain the same purpose or aim. Further, in the class, our teacher gave us an activity and in this activity, we made a draft of our timeline in relation to our use of media in both forms being traditional and modern. (Update) Here's my finished timeline of traditional and modern media: Here's the link: https://www.timetoast.com/timelines/1653905

Evolution of Media and Evo1 Assignment

Image
What rhymes with 3rd day? || Thursday In this meeting, we discussed about the evolution of media, a tool for information and communication, in which we discovered that media existed since the dawn of the cavemen. We define media as a tool for information and thus can say that the cavemen possesses media as evidenced by their cave paintings, such as in Lascaux, France. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lascaux We can confirm that media has long existed since then and even the Egyptians possess their own Hieroglyphs and art as a form of media, as well as the Indus Civilization with their own media written in stone tablets. This discussion allowed us to remember history and all of its wonders in relation to media. We were able to see how media truly evolved and how lucky we are to witness this development with our own eyes, an opportunity given to us since we are born in the modern age. Here is my own tabulation of how media evolved through the ages: Age ...

Opinion on Media and Information Literacy

Homework #1        In my opinion, what makes an individual literate in media and information is when he/she knows how to utilize various forms of media and effectively communicate information when it is needed. This correlates to fluency in the subject of media and information literacy where we possess the essential skills necessary to engage and socialize with other people using media as the medium of our communication. And as with everything we do, we should also take into mind the effects of using media and responsibilities that we have in using the power of media and information. The activities or habits that illustrate my media and information literacy are: (1)When I research information I make sure to check if the source is credible and reliable; (2) I participate in intellectual forums such as Quora and Reddit in order to express myself and ask the opinions of other people; (3)The very basics and start of media and information literacy is to know h...

About the author: On the early morning of June 13th Year 2000, a capricious fellow was born. This fellow, though of humble origins, is unrelenting and does what he wants. Surprisingly, he seldom gets in trouble even with his character. This may be attributed to the love and care of his parents,  Glenda Labor Cagas and Herculano Tutor Cagas. Although he still acts on a whim, he knows what is right and what is wrong and upholds his own values. He began studying in O.B Montessori and later went to one of the hellish schools in Manila, which is, of course, Manila Science High School. There he was trained, taught, and disciplined to the point where he is now doing a blog about himself and his daily experiences in MediaLit1718. Luckily, he enjoys writing down every character knowing the fact that one day his teacher will read this not-so-biography and perhaps laugh. This person of which I have spoken to in 3rd person is in fact, none other than yours truly, Joshua Glenn...

INTRODUCTION TO MEDIA AND INFORMATION LITERACY 2 (LAB)

Image
2nd Day || Wednesday In our 2nd meeting, our teacher further clarified for us the previous terms we discussed and elaborated on the definitions provided. We moved on with our next topic which was a set of questions that will help us build a "Framework" on what journalism is and how we usually outline our goal or article.  In this format, I realized that it would be of great help when we utilize outlines such as this when we are journalists or aiming to become one. This greatly helps our way of seeing how our topic forms and organizes our ideas to become more concrete and transparent to what we truly want to do. Finally, after we have finished our activity, we proceeded with discussing Edmodo's policy and other forms of policies such as copyright and creative commons. Overall, what we have discussed today is very useful especially in the fact that we use media everyday or most of the time. Image source: https://blog.hubspot.com/hubfs/00-Blog_Thinksto...
