Opinion on Media and Information Literacy

Homework #1


       In my opinion, what makes an individual literate in media and information is when he/she knows how to utilize various forms of media and effectively communicate information when it is needed. This correlates to fluency in the subject of media and information literacy where we possess the essential skills necessary to engage and socialize with other people using media as the medium of our communication. And as with everything we do, we should also take into mind the effects of using media and responsibilities that we have in using the power of media and information.

The activities or habits that illustrate my media and information literacy are: (1)When I research information I make sure to check if the source is credible and reliable; (2) I participate in intellectual forums such as Quora and Reddit in order to express myself and ask the opinions of other people; (3)The very basics and start of media and information literacy is to know how to use tools for searching such as the search engine or the data catalogs; (4) When I learn of social media news I make sure to question its authenticity and not be immediately swayed by what is written; (5) I also think thrice on how I express myself on social media and any other forms of media and make sure that when I state facts, that I double check if it is true or not.

8th meeting || Tuesday In this meeting, we had a different teacher, who is also our classmate, Ethan Roldan. We discussed the validity and truthfulness of articles that we read and find on the internet and our student teacher also emphasized on what to look out for when looking for information on the internet. INTRODUCTION TO MEDIA AND INFORMATION LITERACY 2 (LAB)

2nd Day || Wednesday In our 2nd meeting, our teacher further clarified for us the previous terms we discussed and elaborated on the definitions provided. We moved on with our next topic which was a set of questions that will help us build a "Framework" on what journalism is and how we usually outline our goal or article.  In this format, I realized that it would be of great help when we utilize outlines such as this when we are journalists or aiming to become one. This greatly helps our way of seeing how our topic forms and organizes our ideas to become more concrete and transparent to what we truly want to do. Finally, after we have finished our activity, we proceeded with discussing Edmodo's policy and other forms of policies such as copyright and creative commons. About the author: On the early morning of June 13th Year 2000, a capricious fellow was born. This fellow, though of humble origins, is unrelenting and does what he wants. Surprisingly, he seldom gets in trouble even with his character. This may be attributed to the love and care of his parents,  Glenda Labor Cagas and Herculano Tutor Cagas.
