7th meeting || Wednesday (3rd week)

In this meeting, we discussed how to avoid plagiarism and the 3 different types of media. The former was about linking the source of an image in case we ever use one on our blog. While the latter is about Print, Broadcast, and New Media that comprise the media that we use or see today. We were tasked to differentiate the given images shown to us in those 3 categories mentioned beforehand. Below is the table and my answers to the questions:

PRINT
BROADCAST
NEW MEDIA
Newspaper
Magazines
Mimeograph
Journal
TV
Radio
Film
Youtube
Social Media
Smartphone
It was particularly easy to categorize due to the names of the categories which we could infer from.
After the activity, our teacher discussed the definitions of each category and of the concept of Media Convergence in which multiple forms of media are coexisting together. We were also tasked to give specific examples of media convergence in 5 aspects that were also easy to do. And finally, we were tasked to do our final activity called "Synthesis" in which we answered the ff. questions:

Further details can be found on my yellow pad paper.

Describe how new technologies have led to the convergence of traditional and new media.

I gave a brief explanation here where new technologies allow the transfer and conversion of traditional media into a newer form or medium in which the format is the same.

How media convergence creates new opportunities

I explained that we now have various forms of media and mediums of communication to promote and spread information as well as knowledge to a wider array of people that may influence markets and businesses as well as jobs.

Use of one or two forms of new media to share knowledge on an issue

FB and Twitter are one of the most mainstream and popular ways of spreading awareness on an issue as well as informing a wide number of people through sharing and retweeting.

How a person could be portrayed in public in the aspect of media convergence

A profile and picture is enough for us to know a person as well as his posts. This gives us knowledge on that person and through analysis form our own understanding of that person in the eyes of the public. It is both a deadly and useful weapon to spread one's fame or infamy.
